Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Altoona

Second time to eat there. Mike who took our order is slick, asked do you want a medium or large drink, does not offer a small. Our chicken was cold for the second time there. Most of the drinks at the station were out, one piece of chicken was red in the middle and was not done. We gave them a second chance and it was very disappointing. There is more breading than chicken, not very good at all.

I'm not even sure where to start. The service is below sub par. Out of 6 meals in our group. 6 were incorrect. The family in line behind us didnt get their food at all and later guests were served. Honestly, a corporate intervention maybe needed here. The manager on duty seems to be oblivious to any issues and there's more and more people waiting without their food. Good luck to anyone who ventures here. Hope you arent in a hurry..

So I finally had the chicken sandwich and I was less than impress. As far as sandwiches go it is ok but Chick-fil-A has them beat hands down. I think I would have another one but it would 9nky be in Sunday when Chick-fil-A is closed.

Friendly, prompt service. Food was good, hot and combo options offered. Clean comfortable environment.

There were 7 cars ahead of us and we so hungry and we knew Popeye's Chicken, Cajun Rice and Red Beans wasn't gonna Fail Us... It was worth waiting for. It took us 25 minutes to get home. It was fresh hot and Very Delicious!! Thanks so Much for your Service!!💜❤💜❤💜❤💜❤

I ordered a thigh and leg and got a breast and leg. Took it back to get the thigh and ended up with another breast. I hate white meat so only ate the leg and it was good. I got Mac and cheese for my side and it was strictly orange water with macaroni. It was horrible. There was no ice in the drink machine so the pop was warm with no way to cook it down. This was the 3rd strike for this restaurant. I won’t be back

For a fast food chicken place, it's about as good as it gets.

25 minute wait for our order. While same food was flying out the drive thru over and over. Soda machine was out of carbonation, but they kept selling sodas. Not until someone complained did they offer an alternative. Counted 8 employees. Won't go back to that location.

Went there today got 2 CajFish & Shr Combo , the shrimp was okay but the fish was horrible all breeding no fish very disappointed :(

There's good Popeyes and there's bad Popeyes. If you eat at Popeye's you know exactly what I mean. This is has always been a bad Popeyes.Top issues with this place:-Cleanliness/hygiene-Wait time drive through/take out-Small portions-Orders consistently wrongWish it was a good Popeyes.

Save yourself the heartache and just don’t with this location. First clue we should’ve turned around is the handwritten sign on the door that said dining room closed. After waiting in line for 20+ min in the drive through they tried charging us $4 more than menu price. When the lady said she’d have to go out and check menu board she asked us to pull ahead without paying. Fast forward another 15 minutes and my husband went inside to check on our food. Was finally charged the correct price but because we hadn’t paid others in the drive thru line after us were being served before us. Long waits seem to be the story of the day for everyone in the place. Almost an hour later and we’re STILL waiting for our food to be made. This better be the hottest, best tasting chicken ever! *Edit- The plus side was once we finally got food (1hr, 5 min) it was delicious. But regardless the service completely cancelled that out and we won’t be back to that location.

They have not been able to swipe credit cards here for months! Inventory is always low, they are usually out of something. The staff tries but I get the feeling they lack proper training. This location is probably not going to be here very much longer unless some better management decisions are implemented.

Arrived here Tuesday night Dec 10th. About 8:30 pm. The restaurant was cold. The monitor menu did not work correctly. Also the drink dispenser made a huge mess on the floor and made it slippery. Because of this atmosphere I did not enjoy my food. I would not come here again.

Wonderful service! Probably one of the best Popeyes I've been to as far as hospitality is concerned. My only complication was that my biscuit was hard.

I really like Popeye's Chicken and have eaten it many, many times but I have never tried their Chicken Fingers until now. What a terrible experience this was..I couldn't believe how tasteless, dry and hard they were..lol..that's a lesson learned for me !!

My daughter has been asking for Popeyes for a long time. We live on the south side of DSM and for whatever reason the one on SE14th is closed so we drove to Altoona. I ordered the $10 platter and she ordered the original chicken sandwich. When we got home 18 minutes later my platter was wrong. It had pieces of chicken instead of chicken tenders, I ordered a side of mashtotato and fries and both were gone. I ordered ranch and buffalo sauce and they were both gone too. I was disappointed since I wasnt going to go back all the way to Altoona again.

Amazing food! And such friendly staff especially the order taker named Nathan! I will definitely be coming through more than once :)

The manager was amazing! They were backed up on orders and his team was stressing, he took a second said "it's ok, this is only chicken, we have this". You could see their faces relax, great leadership

I would give the Altona Popeyes a 0 if I could. We we arrived the doors were locked. Someone from inside opened the door for us. I returned the favor for someone else. All of a sudden the lady on the register yells, my lobby is closed. Don't be opening my door. Unbelievable. I have never seen anything like that. We left and went to Kanes

Warm soda, no ice, not enough advertized sides and for the money... wow. Be competitive or don't bother

I ordered Popeyes online thru Grubhub. I called the store to make sure I could get dark meat only. Employees were refusing to answer the phone. And when they finally did they put me on hold and then hung up on me. Sounded like a male teen on the other end. Didn’t even give me a name.

Took a little bit to get my chicken but I ordered right at 10 when they opened well worth the wait love me some popeye's haha

Chicken is pretty good. Pieces aren't as big as when they first opened and the spicy chicken isn't very spicy but it's still good.

PLEASE DONT GO HEREHorrible service. Had two orders in the drive thru and they completely missed the second order(even though we paid for it) and left stuff out of the first order. When we came back we waited forever in their molasses slow drive thru. Once we finally made it to the window the manager rudely told us the orders couldn’t have been missing anything and told me it was all checked by him. After yelling at me and arguing with me he finally resentfully gave us our missing food. Bad employees are one thing, bad management is a whole other level of exceptionally bad service. Manager on duty 5:00 7/4/20 needs to be fired/retrained.

Fish was very fresh and hot. Love Popeyes mashed potatoes and gravy. Red beans and rice are my winter favorites. Biscuits are wonderful. I'd love them to add a biscuit and sausage gravy dish, easy since they already have biscuits. Only complaint is that Popeyes stores in Iowa don't have fish combos, like the Virginia and Maryland stores do. Also, miss the butterfly shrimp.

Very slow drive through. Rice and beans are excellent

Most of the tables were dirty and needed to be cleaned. The drink station was out of pretty much everything except coke. The first screen wasn't working so I asked him what they had. I live about 25 miles away in the country, and I don't get a chance to have Popeyes very often. I imagine he had to repeat the menu several times since it was broken. He said it so fast that I didn't understand him. I was really disappointed. It's too bad because they have awesome chicken. This is the second time in recent months that I've been there and it was not too great then either. They weren't busy either time.

Time after Time, I give this place another shot... Literally Everytime I leave asking why I went back there. They are always out of something and takes forever. It's evident that this store is not managed well. Other locations around town are better.

First time eating at this Popeye's, normally eat at the one on Merle Hay. Had a decent sized order in the drive thru since it was after 10 pm and the lobby was closed. The negatives, didn't check order until after we left but asked for tartar sauce and didn't get. Asked for no gravy on the mashed potatoes but got it anyway. The pluses, was told it would be a 6 minute wait for the pie that comes with the big box but offered another side in units place. Chose Cajun fries. Got both Cajun fries and the pie. Got plenty of sauces. Staff was very nice about everything. Did have to tell them at window twice that one of our drinks was unsweetened tea. Overall a good experience, friendly staff a huge plus. Mistakes were minor.

Chicken sandwich is as good as they say.

Horrible, terrifying!We ordered two, two piece chicken meals and a side of mashed and potatoes and a piece of fish, this is a picture of what we seen when we opened up our sack oncw we got home!ALSO! We witnessed an employee placing his personal BACKPACK on a cutting table. You can see this was a cutting table, there was a knife, bread and the cutting board, this was where he placed his backpack to place his things into it and zipped it up as he was preparing to leave for the day. Ick!!!!Also, the corn on the cob was horrible. The potatoes and gravy we're COLD and the chicken was not that great, just fat.The only thing I liked was the biscuit.

Ordered 3 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. She gave me the bag I asked if it was all the there she said yes..wrong answer. I come home I have no coleslaw..

Clean restaurant...plenty of help in the kitchen. Place can get pretty busy at times. Definitely better overall than the Merle Hay location.

Sometimes there is a wait for fresh chicken. I don't mind waiting! It's that good. And the employees almost without fail give me EXTRA food and apologize for the wait. That makes it even better!

Drive thru took nearly 20 minutes and I was the 3rd car in line. The dining area was closed which further baffled me as to what was taking so long. When I ordered BoldBQ (you know what Popeyes calls their BBQ), I was corrected by the lady taking my order "You mean BBQ?" Fries were on the cold side but the chicken tenders and biscuit were on point.

Well we ordered 2 meals, one spicy chicken sandwich and one regular as well as one 3 piece tender. Said the item #s on the board outside. Waited in the drive through for more then 15 minutes. Said they were waiting on our popcorn shrimp. We never ordered that. The staff said that it's because the meal #s outside are different then inside. Supervisor who came over said it was close in price with a shrug since we already paid no refunds. Finally got our food. 2 chicken sandwiches, just the sandwiches and a 3 pc box of chicken not tenders. No drinks. Had to ask for drinks and when we explained this was supposed to be 2 meals and one 3 piece tenders got told they could not make anymore fries. So we got a partial bag of left over fries to go with the unwanted biscuits in the box and that was all. Disappointed. I love Popeyes but this location is the worst.

Will always give a second chance before bad reviews. This was the second time I'm a row ive had terrible service and food. First time out of ranch and BBQ sauce took 15 minutes to get my order in with 1 person in line in front. Biscuits and chicken cold. Luckily got a fork the person behind me wasn't so lucky because they ran out. Tonight out of "drinks" said cool it happens - ordered mild got for half spicy half mild? - biscuit cold - won't be going back to this location ever.

My food was cold. The place was a mess tables hadn't been cleaned or anything. The manager was sitting there eating lunch didn't worry about cleaning up the floors or the tables.

Food is usually good and was this time. Not sure what it is but it seems that they never seem to have items ready and there is always a wait to get your desired items. Will return but I think management needs to watch the times that it takes to get food out . This really needs work and this is not the first time this has occurred.

Finally got around to trying the chicken sandwich. I have always liked Popeyes but the chicken sandwich was as good as they said it was.

I stopped here recently while I was traveling through the area. The food was good quality for fast food! The service was a bit poor but as I don't regularly come I do not know if this was a rare case or a continual problem. Overall a place I would return to.
